Jalynn McDonald

Biology Teacher

My name is Sherry Jalynn McDonald. My family and friends call me Jalynn.  I was born and raised in rural Erwin, NC,

(Harnett County) to middle class parents. I am the oldest of three children. I have identical twin sisters. Upon graduating from high school, I attended Campbell University where I received a Bachelor's in Biological Science. I later continued my education by pursuing a Master's in Science Education from North Carolina State University. In addition, I am a two time National Board Certified Teacher. Currently, this is my 29 year of teaching high school biology. I started my teaching career in Lee County, Sanford, NC, 24 years ago.

I recently relocated to Wilmington in hopes of retiring soon. I love the "laid back" atmosphere that is found at the beach; thus my reason in relocating here.

I am a common sense teacher with an "old school" approach to learning. It is very important to be flexible and grounded as each student that enters my classroom brings an unique style of learning. It is that unique style that keeps me "on my toes". I look forward to meeting you this semester!!!!!
